As part of the run up to our 30th Anniversary of EIS Celebration event, we are shining the spotlight on success stories of businesses that have grown using the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) or the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS).
These stories demonstrate why it is so important for us to celebrate and support the schemes so they can continue to boost the UK start up ecosystem.
“EIS has been so crucial to TALA’s incredible growth over the last 5 years”, says Tala founder Grace Beverly
We spoke with the founder of TALA, Grace Beverly, who used the Enterprise Investment Scheme to grow her activewear brand into a success story.
How important has SEIS/EIS funding been to your startup?
“EIS has been so crucial to TALA’s incredible growth over the last 5 years.”
How much did you raise and from who?
“We raised a £4.2m seed round in 2021, which was co-led by VCs Active Partners, Venrex and Pembroke as well as a host of brilliant Angels.”
“In 2024 we raised £5m in Series A funding, from Pembroke, Venrex & Active Partners.“
What has SEIS/EIS investment enabled you to do?
“Both funding rounds have marked incredibly exciting milestones in TALA’s growth.”
“Our seed funding enabled us to enter new verticals such as tailoring, swim & shapewear. Whilst our recent Series A round will support our international expansion, with a focus on the US market.”
How are you changing the world?
“At TALA, our mission is to create consciously-made pieces that deliver on performance, fit, quality and style, without the hefty price tag.”
“On a more personal note, I want to change the incredible barriers to entry that exist for female entrepreneurs.”
“In the UK, only 2% of VC funding goes to female-founded businesses, and I’m on a mission to change that and raise awareness of the gender funding gap.”
