EISA is delighted to announce that Luke Barnett of St James’s Place has been selected as the new Chair of our Research and Education Committee. Luke’s appointment comes after the previous Chair, Martin Fox, stood down last summer after 8 years leading the Committee.
Luke Barnett is Head of Tax-Advantaged Investments at St James’s Place, overseeing the selection, monitoring and distribution of products across the EIS, VCT and BR panels. He Joined SJP in 2021, and previously worked at MJ Hudson (Allenbridge), having been covering this market since 2017. Before that Luke has held various research roles across differing asset classes in the financial services sector. Originally from South Africa, Luke studied economics at the University of Cape Town.
Commenting on the role, Luke shared “I am delighted to be given the opportunity to work with the EIS Association as Chair of the Research and Education Committee. The Enterprise Investment Scheme not only provides investors with the opportunity to back UK startups, but it also helps to channel funding to high growth areas of the economy. I hope that I can use this role to elevate the profile of the scheme and the EISA, and I look forward to working with Christiana and the rest of the organisation.”
Commenting on his appointment, Director General Christiana Stewart-Lockhart shared “I’m delighted to welcome Luke as the new Chair of EISA’s Research and Education Committee. Luke has extensive experience across the EIS ecosystem with a focus on research within this sector. His proven track record and innovative thinking will be invaluable as we continue to raise the profile of the EIS during this 30th anniversary year. I look forward to working closely with Luke and the rest of the Committee.”
