👤 Paul Mattick, Mercia Asset Management
Dr Paul Mattick heads the Sales and Investor Relations team for the Mercia EIS Funds. He works directly with private clients and advisers to build the EIS fund raising capacity of Mercia. Paul oversees the administration and development of the EIS funds, and ensures that investors receive a high level of service, much of which is delivered through Mercia’s award-winning Investor Centre. Paul has a variety of experience in early-stage businesses (including being a founder), and formerly worked at another leading EIS fund manager, where he built close relationships with top tier clients, and significantly grew both fund and single company assets under management. Paul has a PhD and Post-Doctorate from the University of Oxford and a 1st Class Bachelor of Science from the University of Leeds.
👤 Matthew Moynes, Calculus Capital
Matthew joined Calculus in 2021 and works in the Investor Relations and Marketing team. Prior to joining, he worked for Barclays Wealth as the Head of Venture Capital Products responsible for managing the tax efficient third-party manager panel and driving distribution through product specialist support to Wealth Managers and Planners. During his time at Barclays he was also part of the Manager Selection team responsible for conducting fund and manager level monitoring and initial due diligence. Matthew has a Masters degree in Chemistry from the University of Manchester.
👤 Andrew Noble, Par Equity
Andrew is a Partner at Par Equity, where he serves on the Investment Committee and acts as a sponsor partner to several portfolio companies. He spearheads the distribution of discretionary managed funds, enhances operational and technological infrastructure, and represents Par Equity on the ESG_VC Steering Committee. Before rejoining Par Equity in 2019, Andrew was a consultant at McKinsey & Co, specialising in sales optimisation for FTSE 100 clients. With extensive experience in venture capital and private equity, he has personally invested in over 70 high-growth companies and founded Transition Capital. An accomplished athlete, Andrew competed for TeamGB in Alpine Skiing at the 2010 Winter Olympics. He holds an MBA from INSEAD. When he’s not at his desk, Andrew’s spending time with his young family and playing sports of any kind.
👤 Christiana Stewart-Lockhart, EIS Association
Christiana is Director General of the EIS Association (EISA), the trade body for the EIS and SEIS ecosystem. EISA has more than 400 members including entrepreneurs, advisers and investors using the schemes. She previously spent more than a decade working in Westminster and holds a BA in Politics from the University of York. She is a member of TISA’s Financial Education Council and sits on the Advisory Board for the APPG for Entrepreneurship.
👤 Sunil Shah, o2h Ventures
Sunil Shah is the Fund Manager at o2h Ventures and a seasoned life sciences entrepreneur. He co-founded Oxygen Healthcare, later acquired by Piramal Enterprises in 2013, and went on to establish the o2h Group, encompassing o2h Ventures (tax efficient KI EIS and SEIS Funds focused on investing in biotech), o2h Discovery (medicinal chemistry research), and o2h Co-Work Labs (a 2.7-acre Science Park under development in South Cambridge). Sunil has won the UKBAA Angel Investor of the year award in 2019 as well as the OBN Special Recognition Award for his significant contribution in the Life Sciences Industry. He serves on the Boards of the BIA and Cambridge Angels and is actively involved in over 20 UK biotech companies. Sunil holds a Biochemistry degree from Keele and an MBA from Cambridge University.
