As part of the run up to our 30th Anniversary of EIS Celebration event, we are shining the spotlight on success stories of businesses that have grown using the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) or the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS).
These stories demonstrate why it is so important for us to celebrate and support the schemes so they can continue to boost the UK start up ecosystem.
“I wouldn’t have been able to launch my business without [SEIS]”, says JERMS founder Louise Macnab
We spoke with Louise to learn more about how her gut-health brand JERMS used the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme to grow into a success story.
How important has SEIS/EIS funding been to your startup?
“Simply put, I wouldn’t have been able to launch my business without it, as I didn’t have the personal funds to develop and bring our product to market.”
How much did you raise and from who?
“I raised £250,000 under the SEIS scheme from angels and an SEIS fund.”
What has SEIS/EIS investment enabled you to do?
“SEIS investment has been transformative for our business. In our first year, it enabled us to launch in retailers like Selfridges, Planet Organic, Daylesford and Whole Foods and build up a loyal community. It’s provided us with the working capital for stock so we can fulfil demand and invest in new product development.”
How are you changing the world?
“JERMS is on a mission to make good gut health accessible. We firmly believe that everyone deserves good gut health. That’s why we offer affordable all-in-one supplements using only high quality and ethically sourced ingredients.”
